A lady rear ended us in the 90 Mini
while we were sitting at a stop light. She tried to come up with a few excuses, but the officer sited her as being at fault. Now I get to see how All State does at fixing a classic car.
I kept very calm, but insisted on the police coming and that we would be having the insurance companies handle things.

Mother f****er. That sucks. Sorry to hear that :(

Oh that stinks.

That really sucks. I’m sorry.

seriously tho... that sucks
looks like its just a bit of platework tho... should be grand if insurance picks up the bill :)

Ugh, that blows. Hope All state doesn’t try to screw you over this.
BTW d on’t take your mini to a BMW mechanic who subscribes to the Clarkson school. My bimmer now has more dents after the accident than before. XD

It will go where they know what they are doing. That’s the plan anyways.

Shit. That sucks. Keep control of the repairs yourself, don’t let All State get the car into a shop that doesn’t know how to repair it correctly.
Looks minor at least, and glad no one hurt.
Smart call insisting on police and insurance. She sounds sketchy.

There is no excuse when you ram into a stationary vehicle which is waiting at the light... Damn phone usage probably...

My FIL had a similar accident in his ‘65 Mercedes Pagoda back in the 90s. Just do your best to tug at the heartstrings of the adjuster and your agent. You want the car fixed, you’re a good customer, etc.
And don’t forget to pursue that lady for Diminution of Value if you can. A lot of claims, the claimant has to specifically ask for that or they’ll never take action.

Ugh bummer.
Good luck!

I don't think a BMW mechanic would know what to do with a classic Mini.

Oh man!!! At least it doesn’t look like anything major....new rear lid and that small dent fixed by the taillight?

I had a lady roll into me at a light once but it wasn’t her fault because she wasn’t paying attention.
THEN TAKE THE BUS IF YOU CAN’T PAY ATTENTION.
I’m really sorry about your Mini and I hope they get it fixed right. Saw one at a pawn shop this morning and I have such a weak spot for them.

That’s the hope. New lid and hinges are around $400. Salvage the light, plate holder and latch. Beat out the dents on the surround maybe and some paint?

Is that body itself damaged too much? Doesn’t look it?

AlwSts always always call the cops. Especially when you now your not at fault

I don’t think so. There is a crease along the lower end feet of the boot cutout and a buckle by the right tail light. I haven’t figured out why the skin bucked there. Might just take a couple of whacks. I don’t know.

Yep. Take lots of pictures, be calm and cool.

Good luck, keep us apprised!

If poss insist on a new bootlid. It seems the inner frame buckled too so even if you put a new skin on it it would

My advice: new bootlid (not just the skin) then they can use that to get the curves of the bootlid opening right.
